NLC SUSPENDS STRIKE, FIXES 4TH AND 5TH OCTOBER FOR TRIPARTITE COMMITTEE MEETING

NLC General Secretary, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, has announced the postponement of the NLC strike action that commenced on Thursday 27th September after a breakdown in negotiations with the Federal Government on the implementation of the new minimum wage. This was stated in a press release made available today stating that the organised labour has, after obtaining the mandates of the necessary organs, decided to suspend the ongoing warning strike with effect from today Sunday, 30th September, 2018.

As read in a press release by the General Secretary, he stated; “Due to our united and sustained action, a meeting of the Tripartite Committee has now be fixed for the 4th and 5th of October. After due consultation, the organised labour has decided to suspend the warning strike to provide the committee a conducive atmosphere to conclude its work. The warning strike is, therefore, hereby suspended."

The suspension of the strike was meant to avail the committee the necessary conducive environment to hold this crucial meeting and conclude its work.
